Tibetan masks

Tibetan masks such as Cham masks are ritual objects used during Tibetan shamanic dances, symbolizing spirituality and Buddhist traditions. Hand-carved, these masks often represent deities, animals or protective spirits, and are worn by monks during sacred ceremonies. Their meticulous craftsmanship and rich iconography make them unique pieces, imbued with spiritual symbolism. These wooden masks, often painted in bright colors, play an essential role in rituals designed to ward off malevolent spirits and promote harmony. The skulls visible on the upper part of the Cham mask are often associated with protective or wrathful deities in Tibetan Tantric Buddhism. The frightening attributes symbolize the destruction or rather transformation of the ego.
