  • The Awakened One is depicted in vajrasana on his double lotiform base, his right hand calling upon the Earth goddess to bear witness to his awakening and victory over Mara.
  • Carved wood, red lacquer and gilding.
  • Normal wear and tear, concentrated on the lower part of the base.
  • Provenance: Personal collection of art dealer Claude de Marteau.
