Mandalay Shakyamuni Buddha in bronze

  • The historical Shakyamuni Buddha, in bhumisparsha-mudra, or “taking the earth as witness”, in bronze, lost wax, Mandalay period (1853-1948), most likely from the 19th century.
  • The craftsman has taken particular care to express serenity and compassion, especially through the use of glass or enamel for the elaboration of his eyes.
