- Carved wooden temple finial with Naga head, guardian of treasures, fertility, prosperity and immortality.
It’s another emanation of the god Vishnu. - Thailand, 18th/19th century.
- Beautiful patina of faded wood, with vestiges of polychromy mixed with calcified lichens.
- Supplied with white or black steel base, adjustable chofa inclination.
- Sold with its certificate of provenance: Estate of the collector and art dealer Claude de Marteau.
- It is still sealed with its export license from Thailand’s Department of Fine Arts, which authorized it to leave the country at the time (year 2519 in the Buddhist calendar, i.e. 1976).
