- The Enlightened One seated in Virasana on the Mucilinda (Muchalinda) snake, whose seven heads once formed a canopy above the Buddha.
- Khmer art from Lopburi, 13th century.
- The story goes that while Gautama Buddha was meditating under the great sacred fig tree, the Bhodi, a torrential downpour fell on him for seven days. The king of snakes, Mucalinda, appeared from the depths of the earth to protect the Enlightened One.
