Wall Unit – Herbert Hirche wall shelf.
- Rare wall shelf designed by architect and designer Herbert Hirche (1910-2002). Unlike other models on the market, this one features solid padouk elements (and not teak veneer, as on most models), as well as black laminate “claustra” walls – optional elements that were even rarer at the time, and few of which have survived to the present day. In all likelihood, a control unit.
- This is a modular shelf, but we recommend keeping it in the configuration shown for both aesthetic and practical reasons (ladders drilled at the time for some reinforcement, adjustment of the black walls).
- New locks and key heads machined from solid brass. (The ‘key’ to the secretary flap is a handle).
- Some signs of normal wear and tear (foot, scratch on one cabinet, see photos). However, we consider the condition to be “very good”.
- Due to its construction, this piece of furniture is particularly heavy (approx. 100kg). Assembly time 2 hours, two people.
